Textile City of India

Nestled in the "Textile City of India" this generational house is transformed into an English country-themed abode. The entryway to the villa unfolds into bright white walls that act as a backdrop to the Bougainville blooms creating a pleasing welcome. The patio to the villa's entrance consists of a chequered black and white flooring pattern with a brass handrail offering a warm and sophisticated welcome. In continuation of the patio, a similar black and white patterned marble is used in the passageway, which behaves as a visual thread that guides us from the entryway connected to the living to an intricately carved French-inspired mirror, that is adjoining the dining room. Unique attention is given to the diamond-shaped marble flooring, which acts as an element of scale and border throughout the space.

The French-style door and windows are custom-made in solid wood with wainscoting design detail that envelopes the space, from the foyer to the living room and the dining area. The entrance leads us to the living room, where the amalgamation of different pieces of furniture with pastel colours and floral prints softens the living exuding elegance, warmth and a sense of refined luxury. The foyer from the living room connects to the dining, which has a very distinctive character to the space. The client's family has a passion for horse riding and each of the chairs is named after their horses with custom-made horse prints. The dining wall is decorated with worn-out horseshoes that have been framed. The entire dining space is reminiscent of their beloved horses. The guest bedrooms on the ground floor are small cosy rooms with pastel finishes. One of the guest bedrooms is finished with ratten wardrobe with a hint of lilac paint and a huge artwork that ties up the space together. The headboard is adorned with subtle yet intricate carvings which catch one's attention.

The solid wood staircase with brass handrails leads to the first-floor gallery wall beautified with custom-made colourful floral artworks, that overlooks the family living. The family living processes a forest green sofa and the walls are decorated with British guards and Indian guards, which is a satirical take on colonization. The family room connects to the master and the children's bedroom. The cottage-style master bedroom with pastel shades of powder blue and beige with a hint of gold gives the space a sense of comfort and tranquillity. The master bedroom opens into the balcony on the elevation of the house. The huge painting is the focal point of the balcony which compliments the tropical rustic theme of the space along with ratten furniture. The chandelier is custom-made with a distressed paint finish seamlessly connecting the overall space.

The children's bedroom ushers a warm environment with pastel hues of pink and beige and wainscoting panelling as a backdrop to the intricately carved-out beds. One side of the room consists of a bunk bed and on the other side an English colonial-style queen size bed. Bedding, rugs, and furniture upholstery encompass a wide range of fabric materials. A blend of fabrics like cotton with sued finish headboards adds warmth and texture to the room. Clients are parents to three girls with a pair of twins, hence they wanted a space which could accommodate all the girls in a single room. The last but not the least is the glass house inspired by summer hues. The passage that leads to the glass house is enclosed with plants. Upon entering one is transported into a whimsical amalgamation of art and storytelling through the printed tiles on the floor and a custom-made hand-painted mural. Each area of the glass house tells a story, one side being the colonial-style bookshelf with cosy wooden flooring to the printed tiles on the other side that opens out to a water body. The glass house encapsulates a magical space.
